Idaho electricity prices in context

Idaho's residential electricity rate of 12.35¢/kWh in May 2026 ranks as the least expensive in the nation among the 50 states and DC. The rate runs 6.09¢/kWh below the US average of 18.44¢/kWh, a difference of 33%. Among bordering states, only Utah at 12.96¢/kWh comes close to Idaho's low rate; Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Montana, and Nevada all charge considerably more.
