Florida electricity prices in context

Florida's residential electricity rate in May 2026 stands at 15.17¢/kWh, ranking 33rd among the 50 states and DC — roughly in the middle of the national spectrum. The rate runs 3.27¢/kWh below the US average of 18.44¢/kWh, a difference of 17.7%. Both neighboring states exceed Florida's price: Georgia charges 15.84¢/kWh and Alabama 16.77¢/kWh, making Florida the cheapest of the three. Commercial and industrial rates follow a similar pattern, at 11.49¢/kWh and 8.99¢/kWh respectively.

Over five years, Florida's rate has climbed 29.0% from 11.76¢/kWh in May 2021. The twenty-year trajectory shows even steeper growth: the rate was 11.31¢/kWh in May 2006, an increase of 34.1%.
